BOB Collaborates with LayerZero to Unlock Native BTC's Accessibility in the Multi-Chain Ecosystem

  • 2025-10-02

BOB (Build on Bitcoin) has officially announced the launch of the first trustless, one-click native Bitcoin cross-chain channel, connecting native Bitcoin with institutional-grade wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC) issued by BitGo on 11 chains supported by LayerZero.

This seamless interoperability system enables users to easily access native BTC through wBTC.OFT. Simultaneously, with the BOB Gateway SDK, nearly 15,000 Dapps across 11 mainstream chains, including Ethereum, Avalanche, Base, and BNB, can achieve one-click access to the vast liquidity and user base of native Bitcoin. Previously, most of these 11 mainstream public chain networks lacked direct pathways to native BTC.

By simplifying the complex cross-chain bridging process and enabling direct conversion of native BTC, BOB Gateway allows users to more conveniently enter the multi-chain DeFi ecosystem built around wBTC OFT. This integration, based on BOB's Bitcoin intent system and LayerZero's OFT standard, achieves secure, programmable, and composable cross-chain Bitcoin liquidity. The combination of Bitcoin intent and universal message passing creates a highly capital-efficient interoperability model, marking another significant advancement following BOB's recent upgrade of wBTC to the LayerZero OFT standard.

LayerZero's wBTC.OFT standard is an Omnichain standard designed for wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), allowing WBTC to be seamlessly and efficiently transferred and interoperated across different blockchains. This standard, supported by LayerZero's cross-chain verification protocol and custody institutions like BitGo through a burn-mint mechanism, ensures asset liquidity and security, expanding WBTC's usability across a broader blockchain ecosystem.

For institutional and individual users holding native BTC, BOB Gateway supports one-click conversion of assets into wBTC.OFT on 11 chains (e.g., for participating in DeFi deposits) or one-click return of earnings back to native BTC. Furthermore, nearly 15,000 Dapps on the 11 chains connected to wBTC.OFT can now integrate the BOB Gateway SDK to enable one-click native BTC deposit functionality. This will significantly reduce the operational complexity of DeFi, making complex position management, including loop strategies, easily accessible for both institutions and retail users, effectively driving the large-scale adoption of Bitcoin in the DeFi world.

Currently, nearly $2.3 billion worth of wBTC.OFT has been transferred across chains 67,000 times via LayerZero. After this upgrade, holders can directly convert native BTC cross-chain into wBTC.OFT, injecting new liquidity into the ecosystem and expanding access.

Alexei Zamyatin, Co-founder of BOB and Core Contributor to BitVM, stated: "This upgrade is a key step in establishing BOB as the gateway for Bitcoin DeFi. By enabling instant access to wBTC.OFT through the BOB Gateway, we are providing a convenient, one-click integration solution for native BTC access to thousands of applications across 11 chains. This strategic move strongly aligns with our core goals of enhancing BTC accessibility and delivering a seamless user experience. As native BTC flows into wBTC.OFT through BOB, users will be able to generate yield with their Bitcoin in DeFi more securely and conveniently."

Simon Baksys, Vice President of Global Business Development at LayerZero, stated: "As a leading interoperability infrastructure, LayerZero enables applications and users to access the assets they need on the chains they prefer. wBTC is currently one of the most widely used assets within the DeFi system, and this integration with BOB Gateway will further unleash its utility. By connecting native BTC to nearly 15,000 applications across 11 chains, we are excited to see wBTC, as one of the most trusted assets in crypto, continue to grow its market share and meet the needs of more users."

In addition to Ethereum, Avalanche, Base, and BNB, BOB Gateway also supports bidirectional one-click conversion between native BTC and wBTC.OFT on Soneium, Unichain, Bera, Optimism, Sei, TelosEVM, Swell, Sonic, and the BOB chain itself, covering a total of 11 mainstream public chains. This extensive multi-chain layout ensures that users and developers can enjoy one-click Bitcoin DeFi services within mainstream ecosystems.
