Xiaomi Launches "10-Year Free Air Conditioner Repair" Service

Red Star Capital Bureau, September 20 – On September 19, Xiaomi Group (01810.HK) introduced the "Mijia Air Conditioner 10-Year Free Repair" service. That evening, Zhu Lei, Marketing Director of Gree Electric (000651.SZ), posted on social media, stating, "A 10-year free repair is a commitment, but not needing repair for 10 years is true capability."

@Xiaomi Corporation announced that the Mijia Air Conditioner’s free repair service has been upgraded from 6 years to 10 years, covering the entire unit, parts, and service at no cost. This applies to all Mijia air conditioner categories, including wall-mounted units, cabinet units, and central air conditioning systems.

Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group, stated: "Some industry leaders implemented the 10-year air conditioner repair service earlier than us, but Xiaomi had internal plans long ago and set a clear goal: if we do it, we must not just catch up but elevate the industry’s service standards to new heights!"

Lu Weibing also called on the industry to follow suit with a 10-year repair policy for central air conditioning, emphasizing that "this reflects confidence in product quality!"

Red Star Capital Bureau noted that in August this year, Gree and Xiaomi had friction over air conditioner sales data statistics. At that time, Zhu Lei mentioned that Gree is the only leading company in China’s home appliance industry daring to promise a "10-year free repair" for its entire series of household air conditioners. He invited Xiaomi and other industry players to join the "10-year free repair" initiative.

Following Xiaomi’s launch of the "10-year free repair" service, Zhu Lei commented that when Gree first proposed the "10-year free repair" in 2021, its products had already undergone 30 years of market validation. This service was introduced based on continuously improving product quality and a consistently declining after-sales failure rate. "A 10-year free repair is a commitment, but not needing repair for 10 years is true capability."
