Four Departments Including the National Development and Reform Commission Study Measures to Curb "Exorbitant" Mooncakes
To implement the requirements of the "Announcement on Curbing 'Exorbitant' Mooncakes and Promoting Healthy Industry Development," and to restore mooncakes to their role as mass consumer goods and cultural traditions, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, and the State Administration for Market Regulation recently conducted a thematic study on curbing "exorbitant" mooncakes.
Since the beginning of this year, the four departments have strengthened source governance, fully leveraged the role of industry associations, enhanced policy communication to production and sales enterprises, guided businesses to operate in compliance with laws and regulations, and issued clear requirements for relevant local departments to further efforts in curbing "exorbitant" mooncakes in 2025.
Next, the four departments will guide relevant local departments to intensify monitoring and analysis, strengthen market inspections, promptly address identified issues, increase supervision in key areas, investigate and penalize illegal activities in accordance with the law, foster a favorable market environment, and uphold a wholesome holiday atmosphere.
