Google's New Pixel 10 Series Strengthens AI Integration to Rival Apple

By sector, nine of the S&P 500's eleven sectors saw gains while two declined. The energy and consumer staples sectors led gains with increases of 0.86% and 0.80% respectively, while the consumer discretionary and technology sectors led declines with drops of 1.18% and 0.77% respectively.

Major tech stocks mostly rose. Intel fell over 6%. Apple, Amazon, TSMC, Tesla, Super Micro Computer, Broadcom, and Google-Class A fell over 1%. Advanced Micro Devices, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Meta, NVIDIA, and Netflix saw slight declines. Oracle, Boeing, and ASML saw slight gains.

Google's Class A shares closed down 1.12%, with a turnover of $5.735 billion. Alphabet's Google released a series of new consumer electronics products on Wednesday, including several smartphones, a smartwatch, and new wireless earbuds, aiming to showcase the company's latest advancements in artificial intelligence. The new phone lineup includes the Pixel 10 ($800), Pixel 10 Pro ($1000), Pixel 10 ProXL ($1200), and Pixel 10 ProFold ($1800). The Pixel Watch 4 is priced at $350 and $400 for the 41mm and 45mm sizes respectively. The company's latest entry-level wireless earbuds, the Pixel Buds 2a, are priced at $130. The starting prices for most models are the same as their predecessors, except for the Pixel 10 ProXL which has double the storage.

Financial stocks mostly rose. Travelers rose over 2%. The Hartford, Allstate, AIG, Mastercard, and Mizuho Financial rose over 1%. Wells Fargo, American Express, Barclays, Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Regions Financial, UBS Group, Visa, U.S. Bancorp, MetLife, Bank of New York Mellon, Capital One Financial, and Morgan Stanley saw slight gains. BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, Charles Schwab, and Citigroup saw slight declines.

Energy stocks rose across the board. ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil rose over 1%. Imperial Oil, Shell, Chevron, Occidental Petroleum, Petrobras, Duke Energy, Apache, BP (US), and Schlumberger saw slight gains. American Energy closed flat.

Popular China-concept stocks were mixed, with the Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index (HXC) closing up 0.33%. Zeekr fell over 4%. Baidu and Trip.com fell over 2%. XPeng and Li Auto fell over 1%. Pinduoduo, Tencent Music, Huya, Alibaba, JD.com, and New Oriental saw slight declines. NIO closed flat. Vipshop, iQiyi, and Bilibili saw slight gains. Kingsoft Cloud and NetEase rose over 1%. UP Fintech (Tiger Brokers) rose over 4%. Futu Holdings rose over 6%.
