Powell’s Jackson Hole Speech Time Announced: Market Focuses on Rate Cut Expectations and Succession Issue

Xinhua Finance, Beijing, August 15 – According to the Federal Reserve’s schedule, Fed Chair Jerome Powell will deliver a speech on the economic outlook and the Fed’s policy framework review at the Kansas City Fed’s annual central banking conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, at 10:00 AM ET (10:00 PM Beijing time) on August 22.

This speech comes at a critical juncture: Recent data shows that tariff measures have partially impacted inflation, while the job market is slowing. This complex situation has strengthened market expectations that the Fed may announce a 25-basis-point rate cut at next month’s meeting.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump continues to pressure the Fed to cut rates and is actively seeking potential successors. Powell’s term as Fed Chair will end in May next year.
