Ukraine Says Russia Launched Massive Attacks on Its Energy Facilities

Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said on the 8th that Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure starting from the night of the 7th, causing power outages in multiple regions.

In a social media post, Halushchenko stated that Ukraine's energy system is under a new large-scale combined attack by missiles and drones, leading to emergency power cuts in several areas. Power supply will be restored after the security situation stabilizes.

Oleh Kiper, the governor of Odesa Oblast, said on social media on the 8th that a Russian drone attack on the night of the 7th damaged an energy infrastructure facility in the oblast, but there were no casualties.

The Russian side has not yet responded to Ukraine's statements.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a social media post on the 7th that he has approved the appointment of Yurii Cherievashchenko as commander of Ukraine's drone air defense system. Cherievashchenko previously helped Ukraine create its first mobile rapid reaction air defense brigades and was also involved in the development of drone interception technology.
