China Consumers Association Highlights Frequent Quality Issues with Trendy Toys
The China Consumers Association (CCA) released an analysis of complaints handled by consumer associations nationwide in the third quarter of 2025. It mentioned that some trendy toy platforms exhibit irregularities in aspects like transaction rules and after-sales guarantees, leading to a concentration of consumer complaints.
First, there are frequent product quality issues. Consumers reported that after purchasing blind boxes, action figures, and other trendy toys on relevant platforms, they often encounter quality defects such as paint peeling, breakage, and missing accessories.
Second, the difficulty in obtaining refunds and returns is prominent. Some consumers who placed orders on trendy toy platforms had their refund requests denied, even when the goods had not yet been shipped or after receiving defective products, with platforms citing "platform rules do not support refunds" as the reason.
Third, there are shortcomings in after-sales service. Many consumers reported that customer service on these platforms responds slowly with long wait times, and complaint tickets submitted multiple times often go unaddressed for extended periods, negatively impacting the consumer experience.
