Shanghai Disney Resort: Visitor Numbers Reach Hundreds of Millions, Fourth Themed Hotel to Be Built

On November 3, Shanghai Disney Resort announced that it will construct a fourth themed hotel. Upon completion, this hotel will be located adjacent to the main entrance of Shanghai Disneyland, serving as the starting point for hotel guests embarking on their magical journey to the Disney park. In addition to the hotel, this expansion project will include new shopping and dining experiences, allowing visitors to enjoy a richer and more diverse Disney experience in the shopping, dining, and entertainment area next to the theme park.

According to the introduction, the latest fourth themed hotel will join the resort's existing portfolio of themed hotels—namely, Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, Toy Story Hotel, and the third hotel currently under construction—providing more extensive accommodation and leisure options for visitors planning to start their Disney vacation at the resort. The third themed hotel, currently under construction, is situated on the south side of Wishing Lake, adjacent to the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, and has already entered the stages of interior finishing and exterior façade work.

According to the latest "2024 TEA/AECOM Global Attractions Attendance Report" released by the Themed Entertainment Association, Shanghai Disneyland received 14.7 million visitors in 2024, setting a new historical record. It ranked fifth globally in attendance among the "Top 25 Amusement/Theme Parks Worldwide" and maintained its position as the top park in China.

With continuously rising popularity and growing visitor demand, Shanghai Disney Resort is simultaneously advancing the construction and development of several major expansion projects. In addition to the two new themed hotels, the expansion projects also include the ninth themed land—the Spider-Man themed land—and the expansion of the park's iconic attraction, "Soaring Over the Horizon."

Andrew Bolstein, President and General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, stated to the media: "The guest experience is at the core of everything we do. By integrating creativity, innovation, and storytelling, we continuously design and deliver unique, brand-new experiences that are distinctly Disney. The resort's latest expansion plan is a strong testament to this commitment. This new hotel will become an integral part of our overall resort experience. Coupled with the additional shopping and dining experiences, we will provide visitors with more diverse choices, allowing them to spend a vibrant and exciting vacation here."
