Russia Launches New Nuclear Submarine Capable of Carrying "Poseidon" Nuclear-Powered Unmanned Underwater Vehicle
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Defense Minister Belousov attended the launching ceremony of the nuclear submarine "Khabarovsk" at the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk on November 1 (local time). It is reported that the "Khabarovsk" nuclear submarine, designed by the Rubin Design Bureau, is capable of carrying and launching the "Poseidon" nuclear-powered unmanned underwater vehicle.
Belousov stated that the heavy nuclear submarine "Khabarovsk" is equipped with an underwater weapon and robotic system combat platform, which will effectively safeguard Russia's maritime borders and protect the country's national interests in oceans worldwide.
Belousov mentioned that the submarine still needs to undergo a series of sea trials and expressed his wishes for the relevant teams to complete the tasks successfully.
During his visit, Belousov also inspected the progress of repairs and upgrades for multiple strategic missile nuclear submarines and multi-purpose nuclear submarines at the Zvezda ship repair center.
Additionally, Belousov reviewed the icebreaker patrol ship "Ivan Papanin," which possesses combat capabilities in the ice-covered waters of the Arctic Ocean, significantly enhancing the Russian Navy's operational effectiveness in the Arctic region. In early September this year, after completing all ice tests, the "Ivan Papanin" officially joined the Russian Navy's operational fleet.
