
Hungary: Preparing for US-Russia Leaders Meeting
Xinhua Finance Budapest, October 17 (Reporter Chen Hao) Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán posted on social media on the 16th that he had a phone call with US President Trump that day, and preparations for a meeting between US and Russian leaders are underway.
Earlier that day, following the call between the US and Russian leaders, Orbán confirmed that Trump and Russian President Putin plan to meet in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó posted on social media, stating that another call and an upcoming meeting between the US and Russian presidents is good news. He wrote: "Negotiations are the path to peace. The way out of war is not on the battlefield."
Trump and Putin held a lengthy call on the 16th to discuss topics such as US-Russia relations and the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Trump said both sides agreed to hold high-level US-Russia talks next week, after which he and Putin will meet in Budapest to discuss how to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. However, he did not specify the exact date of their meeting.
