Chinese Ambassador to the US: China and the US Should Expand the List of Cooperation
Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng stated at the National Day reception held at the Chinese Embassy in the US on the evening of September 29 that China and the US should expand the list of cooperation, enlarge the pie of cooperation, and achieve win-win and multiple wins.
Xie Feng said that China and the US share broad common interests and have enormous space for cooperation. The trade volume between China and the US has surged from less than $2.5 billion in 1979 to nearly $688.3 billion in 2024, demonstrating strong resilience and endogenous dynamism.
Xie Feng expressed that China and the US should deepen the convergence of interests and become companions who help each other succeed. Combating illegal immigration, fentanyl, telecom fraud, and financial crimes, as well as cooperating in cancer prevention and treatment, infectious diseases, and artificial intelligence, can fully become highlights and growth points for bilateral cooperation.
Xie Feng pointed out that the positive progress in economic and trade talks between the two countries shows that equal consultation is the right way to resolve issues. When China and the US cooperate, the world is safe; when they conflict, the world worries. Both sides must adhere to the bottom line of no conflict and no confrontation, adding stability to an already turbulent world.
Xie Feng emphasized that the Taiwan issue concerns the political foundation of China-US relations. If not handled properly, it could lead to conflict and confrontation between China and the US. The US side must exercise extreme caution, abide by the one-China principle and the three US-China joint communiqués, cease spreading the fallacy of "undetermined status of Taiwan," refrain from challenging the international consensus, including UN General Assembly Resolution 2758, and must not cross the line.
Xie Feng said that following the 240-hour transit visa-free policy for the US, the visa function of the "China领事" App will soon be launched in the US. He invited American friends to embark on a "say-go-go" trip to China and also hoped that the US side would move in the same direction to create convenient conditions for exchanges between the people of the two countries.
The Chinese Embassy in the US held a reception on the evening of September 29 to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, attended by over 700 people, including US government officials and friends from various sectors.
