Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Telecom Business Revenue Reached 1182.1 Billion Yuan in First 8 Months, Up 0.8% Year-on-Year

In the first eight months, the telecommunications industry maintained stable operation. Telecom services saw growth in both volume and revenue, new infrastructure construction progressed in an orderly manner, the scale of users for 5G, gigabit networks, and the Internet of Things continued to expand, and mobile internet data traffic maintained rapid growth.

Telecom business revenue maintained positive growth, while the total telecom service volume grew rapidly. In the first eight months, cumulative telecom business revenue reached 1182.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.8%. The total telecom service volume calculated at constant prices from the previous year increased by 8.8% year-on-year.

The scale of fixed broadband access users steadily expanded, with the number of gigabit users continuing to increase. By the end of August, the total number of fixed internet broadband access users of the three basic telecom enterprises reached 689 million, a net increase of 18.85 million since the end of the previous year. Among them, the number of fixed internet broadband access users with an access rate of 100Mbps or higher reached 655 million, accounting for 95.2% of the total users. The number of fixed internet broadband access users with an access rate of 1000Mbps or higher reached 233 million, a net increase of 26.64 million since the end of the previous year, accounting for 33.9% of the total users, an increase of 3 percentage points compared to the end of the previous year.

The number of mobile phone users increased steadily, with the scale of 5G users continuing to expand. By the end of August, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecom enterprises and China Broadcasting Network reached 1.819 billion, a net increase of 29.53 million since the end of the previous year. Among them, the number of 5G mobile phone users reached 1.154 billion, a net increase of 140 million since the end of the previous year, accounting for 63.4% of mobile phone users.

Mobile IoT terminal users grew rapidly, and internet TV (IPTV, OTT) users increased steadily. By the end of August, the three basic telecom enterprises had developed 2.872 billion mobile IoT terminal users, a net increase of 216 million since the end of the previous year. The number of internet TV (IPTV, OTT) users reached 412 million, a net increase of 4.246 million since the end of the previous year.
