Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area Promotes "Esports+" New Business Model, Establishes Only Digital Professional Esports Venue in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region

BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Yang Shuangyue) — Driven by the deep integration of technology and culture, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) has established the most advanced and only digital professional esports venue in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Located at the Beijing Smart Esports Event Center, the venue serves as a key platform for the BDA to build a dual-core industrial system focused on "high-end audiovisual and gaming esports," further enhancing the area’s industrial cluster and influence in the esports sector.

At a press conference held on the 4th, Shi Wei, Deputy Secretary of the BDA Working Committee, stated that the area has consistently adhered to the path of "empowering culture with technology and activating technology with culture" to advance the integrated development of technology and cultural industries. In the gaming esports sector, the BDA has not only optimized and upgraded the functions of the Beijing Smart Esports Event Center but also supported it with the construction of a New Technology Application Center for Online Games, creating an esports ecosystem that integrates event hosting, technology R&D, content production, and leisure experiences.

The esports venue features internationally leading digital facilities and possesses comprehensive capabilities to host large-scale esports events and cultural-sports activities. It plans to host over 100 esports events annually. Notably, it has become the world’s first "super dual home venue" simultaneously operating both the KPL (Honor of Kings Professional League) and LPL (League of Legends Pro League), significantly elevating the BDA’s status in the domestic and international esports landscape.

According to statistics, in the first half of this year, 146 cultural industry legal entities above the designated size in Yizhuang New City achieved revenue of 28.29 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.9%, demonstrating strong industrial growth momentum. As an emerging growth driver of the cultural industry, the esports sector is gradually becoming a new engine for high-quality development in the BDA.

Shi Wei emphasized that the BDA will continue to follow the path of "empowering culture with technology and activating technology with culture," striving to build a core承载区 for the capital’s national cultural center and international sci-tech innovation center, providing a replicable and scalable "Yizhuang Model" for the integrated technology and cultural industry nationwide.
