Trump Complains Again: U.S.-India Trade Relations Are a Decades-Long Disaster
① U.S. President Trump criticized the tariff and trade relations between the United States and India on the social platform TruthSocial, calling it a severely "one-sided" disaster; ② Trump stated that India's tariff levels on the U.S. are "the highest of any country" and complained that American companies cannot sell products to India.
On Monday Eastern Time, U.S. President Trump bluntly criticized the tariff and trade relations between the United States and India on his social platform TruthSocial, stating that over the past few decades, this relationship has been a severely "one-sided" disaster.
On Monday Eastern Time, Trump posted on TruthSocial complaining: "In other words, they (India) sell us a lot of goods, their biggest 'customer,' but we sell them very little. So far, it's a completely one-sided relationship, and this has been going on for decades."
"This is an entirely one-sided disaster! Moreover, India buys most of its oil and military products from Russia and very little from the United States."
The tariff levels imposed by India have now reached a historic high of 50%, dealing a significant blow to the U.S.-India partnership.
Trump claimed that the reason American companies have been "unable to sell to India" is due to India's high tariff barriers, and India's tariff levels on the U.S. are "the highest of any country."
Trump said: "They are now proposing to reduce their tariffs to zero, but it's a bit late. They should have done this years ago. Just some simple facts for people to think about!"
Facing pressure from Trump, last week, Modi stated at a rally in his home state of Gujarat that he would not yield to pressure. "For me, the interests of farmers, small businesses, and the dairy industry are paramount. My government will ensure they are not impacted."
