On Wednesday local time, the three major U.S. stock indices collectively closed higher, with the S&P 500 hitting a new record. At the close, the Dow rose 147.16 points, or 0.32%, to 45,565.23; the Nasdaq gained 45.87 points, or 0.21%, to 21,590.14; and the S&P 500 added 15.46 points, or 0.24%, to 6,481.40.
Most large tech stocks advanced, with Intel up over 2%, and Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon posting modest gains. Tesla, Netflix, and Meta saw slight declines.
Popular Chinese stocks mostly fell, with the Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index closing down 2.58%. UP Fintech and Canadian Solar dropped over 9%, Li Auto fell more than 8%, XPeng declined over 6%, NIO slid over 5%, JinkoSolar dropped nearly 5%, JD.com fell over 3%, Baidu and Daqo New Energy dipped nearly 3%, and Alibaba decreased by 1.6%.
As September approaches, the Federal Reserve's latest interest rate decision has drawn market attention. According to the latest CME "FedWatch" data, the probability of a 25-basis-point rate cut in September is 88.7%, while the chance of rates remaining unchanged is 11.3%.
