Hong Kong's July export value increases by 14.3% year-on-year


According to the external merchandise trade statistics released today (26th) by the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, both the overall export and import values of Hong Kong recorded year-on-year increases in July 2025, rising by 14.3% and 16.5% respectively.

Following an 11.9% year-on-year increase in June 2025, the total export value of goods in July 2025 was HKD 446.3 billion, up by 14.3% compared to the same month in 2024. At the same time, after recording an 11.1% year-on-year increase in June 2025, the import value of goods in July 2025 was HKD 480.4 billion, up by 16.5% compared to the same month in 2024. A visible trade deficit of HKD 34.1 billion was recorded in July 2025, equivalent to 7.1% of the import value of goods.

In the first seven months of 2025, the total export value of goods increased by 12.7% compared to the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, the import value of goods rose by 13.2%. A visible trade deficit of HKD 218.6 billion was recorded in the first seven months of 2025, equivalent to 7.0% of the import value of goods.

Seasonally adjusted figures show that in the three months ending July 2025 compared to the preceding three months, the total export value of goods remained largely unchanged. Meanwhile, the import value of goods increased by 2.2%.
