The report stated that the Trump administration outlined the plan to impose a 50% tariff on Indian products in a notice released on the 25th. This is the latest signal that the White House plans to advance tariff increases, as efforts to facilitate a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine appear to have stalled.

On August 6, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order imposing an additional 25% tariff on Indian exports to the U.S., citing India’s "direct or indirect import of Russian oil."
