The State Council Information Office held a series of thematic press conferences on "Completing the '14th Five-Year Plan' with High Quality" this morning (25th). Relevant officials from the General Administration of Customs announced that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, new achievements have been made in safeguarding national border security, and the barrier of national security has been further strengthened:
Customs annually supervised import and export goods totaling 5.2 billion tons, with a value of 41.5 trillion yuan, making it the largest in volume globally, with security, stability, and controllability.
A total of 5.15 million prohibited items involving politics, firearms, explosives, etc., were seized; over 70 types of infectious diseases were detected in 180,000 cases; and more than 200,000 batches of substandard goods were handled.
Through comprehensive tax management and lawful collection, a total of 9.7 trillion yuan in taxes was collected.
A total of 23,000 smuggling criminal cases were investigated, effectively curbing smuggling crimes such as foreign garbage, endangered species, drugs, and controlled items.
During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the International Trade "Single Window" has become China's "digital gateway" to global trade. The "One-Stop Online Services" cover 25 categories and 964 items, basically covering the entire chain and all aspects of cross-border trade. "Smart Travel Inspection" covers 80% of the country's aviation ports, allowing passengers to clear customs seamlessly and quickly.
Since the "14th Five-Year Plan," China has added and expanded 40 open ports, bringing the total number to 311, basically forming a comprehensive port opening layout covering water, land, and air, as well as eastern, central, and western regions. Special customs supervision areas such as comprehensive bonded zones have become new hubs for opening up in various regions, contributing one-fifth of the nation's total import and export value with less than 1/20,000 of the land area. China has become one of the top three trading partners for 157 countries (regions) globally.
