Hong Kong, August 22, 2025 — The highly anticipated Bitcoin Asia 2025 will be held in Hong Kong from August 28 to 29. With an expected attendance of 15,000 participants, it will be the world’s second-largest Bitcoin event, further solidifying Hong Kong and Asia’s growing prominence on the global digital economy stage.
Bitcoin is steadily moving into the mainstream, with rapid adoption among both retail investors and corporate applications. Southeast Asia, in particular, is experiencing explosive growth. Indonesia recorded $30 billion in digital currency transactions last year, while markets such as Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines are also showing strong momentum. In 2023, the Asia-Pacific region accounted for 43% of global cryptocurrency ownership.
Active retail participation has also spurred significant institutional interest in Bitcoin. From Japan and South Korea to Hong Kong and Singapore, capital markets are accelerating their deployment of digital assets. According to statistics, crypto asset management revenue in the Asia-Pacific region has reached $300.4 million and is projected to grow to $1.46 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 25.4%. In Hong Kong, for example, a growing number of listed or registered companies are holding Bitcoin inventories, reflecting sustained enthusiasm for BTC. The activity of both retail and institutional players is driving the accelerated establishment of regulatory frameworks in the region, with most markets developing clearer rules for exchanges and custodians to enhance investor confidence.
Hong Kong is at the heart of this wave. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) have positioned Hong Kong as a nurturing ground for digital assets and Web3, implementing policies through pilot programs. In April 2024, Hong Kong became one of the first jurisdictions in Asia to approve Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs, a milestone that attracted significant institutional capital and laid the groundwork for broader adoption. The passage of the Stablecoin Ordinance in May this year further marks a critical step toward Hong Kong’s goal of becoming an international virtual asset hub.
Against this backdrop, Bitcoin Asia 2025’s choice of Hong Kong as its host is a natural fit. The two-day event will feature over 200 speakers from around the world, including industry leaders such as Adam Back (Blockstream), CZ Zhao Changpeng (Binance), and Balaji Srinivasan (Network School).
