Kunshan’s First Intercity Low-Altitude Route Direct to Shanghai City Center Officially Launched
Shanghai, Aug. 19 (China News Network) — Reporter Xu Kuaiyin: On the morning of the 18th, a Bell 429 helicopter took off from the Kunshan City Terminal in Jiangsu Province and landed smoothly at the Yangpu Binjiang Fuxing Island Base in Shanghai after a 20-minute flight. This marks the official launch of "the first low-altitude traffic route connecting Kunshan and the central urban area of Shanghai."
According to reports, this route will link Kunshan, downtown Shanghai, and the Pudong International Airport aviation hub, forming a multi-dimensional transportation system. After arriving at Yangpu Binjiang from Kunshan, passengers can choose to continue to Pudong International Airport or transfer to other low-altitude routes.
This newly opened route is the first intercity low-altitude traffic line to enter the central urban area of Shanghai. The Yangpu Fuxing Island Base is located in the core area of Yangpu Binjiang and is a scarce takeoff and landing site within Shanghai’s urban district. Its selection as a landing point signifies that low-altitude traffic has truly entered the core urban area of Shanghai.
The Yangpu Fuxing Island Base is not only a takeoff and landing point but also a "key hub of the Yangtze River Delta low-altitude route network." Passengers can conveniently transfer to multiple low-altitude routes here, forming a regional transportation network. From Fuxing Island, travelers can fly to destinations such as Jiaxing South Lake and Haining. Shanghai New Sky Helicopter Co., Ltd. (abbreviated: New Sky Helicopter) also plans to launch routes to island tourism destinations like Shengsi Island and Huaniao Island in Zhoushan, providing passengers with more diverse travel options. These routes will connect the core areas of the Yangtze River Delta, forming a "half-hour flight circle."
Passengers arriving at Yangpu Binjiang can choose to experience "low-altitude cultural tourism projects" in addition to transferring to commuter routes. This combined model of "commuting + sightseeing" offers business travelers and tourists a全新的 travel experience, transforming travel time into tourism experience and enhancing the value of travel.
It is worth mentioning that this route also supports "night flights." After the launch of night flights, passengers can depart from Kunshan in the evening, enjoy the night views of both Shanghai and Kunshan from the air, and experience the unique charm of nighttime flying. The opening of the "night low-altitude route" marks a comprehensive upgrade in the service level of low-altitude transportation in the Yangtze River Delta. With technological maturity and increasing market demand in the future, night flight services are expected to expand to more routes. Night flights not only meet commuter needs but also provide tourists with a unique urban sightseeing perspective, adding an aerial dimension to "night tours of the Yangtze River Delta."
