Soros Q2 Holdings: Significantly Increased S&P 500 ETF Put Options, Reduced AstraZeneca (AZN.US)

According to disclosures by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Soros Fund Management, the investment firm of billionaire George Soros, filed its Q2 2025 (as of June 30) portfolio report (13F).

Statistics show the fund's total portfolio value reached $7.97 billion in Q2, up 19% quarter-over-quarter from $6.7 billion. The fund added 80 new stocks and increased positions in 60 existing stocks during Q2, while reducing positions in 45 stocks and liquidating 87 positions. The top ten holdings accounted for 28.11% of the total portfolio value.

Among the top five holdings:

  1. SPDR S&P 500 ETF Put Options (SPY.US, PUT) - 540,000 shares ($332 million, 4.17% of portfolio), with a 168.75% increase from last quarter

  2. Smurfit WestRock (SW.US) - 7.48 million shares ($323 million, 4.05% of portfolio), up 9.16% QoQ

  3. First Solar Call Options (FSLR.US, CALL) - 1.64 million shares ($271 million, 3.40% of portfolio), up 2.39% QoQ

  4. iShares Russell 2000 ETF Put Options (IWM.US, PUT) - 1.05 million shares ($227 million, 2.84% of portfolio), up 320% QoQ

  5. Invesco QQQ ETF Call Options (QQQ.US, CALL) - 400,000 shares ($221 million, 2.77% of portfolio), newly established position

Top five buys by position changes: Invesco QQQ ETF Calls, SPDR S&P 500 ETF Puts, Globant (GLOB.US) notes, iShares Russell 2000 ETF Puts, SPDR Consumer Staples Select Sector ETF Puts (XLP.US, PUT).

Top five sells: AstraZeneca (AZN.US), iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF Calls (TLT.US, CALL), SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US), American Electric Power (AEP.US), Apple Put Options (AAPL.US, PUT).
