Sci-Tech Innovation Board Adds Two New Private Enterprise Indices

On July 22, the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and China Securities Index Co., Ltd. announced the launch of the SSE Sci-Tech Innovation Board Private Enterprises Index (referred to as the "Sci-Tech Private Enterprises Index") and the SSE Sci-Tech Innovation Board Private Enterprises 50 Strategy Index (referred to as the "Sci-Tech Private Enterprises Strategy Index") on July 23. These indices will provide the market with performance benchmarks and investment targets in the private enterprise sector of the Sci-Tech Innovation Board.

The Sci-Tech Private Enterprises Index includes all listed securities of private enterprises on the Sci-Tech Innovation Board as its components, aiming to comprehensively reflect the overall performance of private listed companies on the board. As of the end of June 2025, the index comprised 422 components with a total market capitalization of RMB 3.5 trillion. Among them, 171 companies achieved both revenue and net profit growth in 2024, 37 saw revenue growth exceed 50%, and 64 recorded net profit growth of over 50%.

The Sci-Tech Private Enterprises Strategy Index selects 50 listed securities of private enterprises with high R&D investment and strong profitability from the Sci-Tech Innovation Board, placing greater emphasis on investment attributes. As of the end of June 2025, the components of this index had a combined market capitalization of approximately RMB 1.2 trillion, with an average daily trading volume of about RMB 16.1 billion over the past year.

Data shows that there are 422 private enterprises listed on the Sci-Tech Innovation Board, accounting for over 70% of the board. As of the end of June 2025, these companies had a total market capitalization of RMB 3.5 trillion, representing 58.2% of the entire Sci-Tech Innovation Board. In 2024, private enterprises on the board invested nearly RMB 80 billion in R&D, with an R&D intensity of 8.9%. Among them, strategic emerging industries achieved an R&D intensity exceeding 16%.

Currently, the Sci-Tech Innovation Board has established a comprehensive, multi-layered index system covering broad-based, sector-themed, and strategy-based indices, along with an ETF product ecosystem. An SSE official stated to reporters: "The SSE and China Securities Index Co., Ltd. will continue to enrich and improve the Sci-Tech Innovation Board index system to better support the development of technology finance, foster new productive forces, enhance the capital market's role in serving the high-quality development of the real economy, and provide investors with more diversified investment targets and performance benchmarks."
