US Media: Trump Hints at Revoking New Tariffs on China
CNN reported on October 12 that U.S. stock index futures rose after President Trump hinted at revoking new tariffs on China on the 12th.
According to the report, Trump posted on Truth Social, "Don't worry about China, everything will be just fine." Subsequently, U.S. stock index futures increased.
As of 6:32 PM Eastern Time, Dow Jones futures were up 0.8%, S&P 500 futures rose 1.04%, and Nasdaq futures increased by 1.34%.
On October 10, Trump suddenly threatened to impose 100% tariffs on China, with the new tariffs set to take effect on November 1. At that time, U.S. stocks experienced a sharp decline.
On October 12, China responded, stating that frequently resorting to threats of high tariffs is not the right way to engage with China. China urged the U.S. to correct its mistaken approach as soon as possible. Regarding a tariff war, China's position is consistent: we do not want to fight one, but we are not afraid to do so. If the U.S. persists in its unilateral actions, China will firmly take corresponding measures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
