Focusing on Clean Energy Innovation: Green Energy Development Conference

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the proposal of the "Dual Carbon" goals. Promoting a comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development has become a focal point for local development. The 2025 Green Energy Development Conference (Yichang, Hubei) will be held in Yichang from October 22 to 24. The conference is jointly organized by the China Energy Research Society and Hubei Three Gorges Laboratory, and hosted by the Yichang Municipal People's Government.

As the location of the Three Gorges Project, a "critical national project," and the "World Hydropower Capital," Yichang has focused on local green energy development and has hosted the Green Energy Development Conference for two consecutive sessions. On October 10, the Yichang municipal government held a press conference to introduce relevant details and answer questions from journalists.

Yichang municipal leaders stated that in recent years, leveraging its abundant clean energy resources such as wind, solar, and hydropower, and building on the expert insights from the 2023 China (Yichang) Green Energy Development Conference, Yichang has aligned its development strategy with the goal of building a "Clean Energy Capital." By adjusting its transformation and development approach, it has accelerated the growth of green industries including "hydro, wind, and solar" new energy, new energy batteries, and green intelligent ships. Seizing the opportunity presented by this conference, Yichang will focus on Hubei's goal of rapidly establishing itself as a crucial strategic pivot for the rise of central China, deeply implement the development strategy of "Dual Carbon Leadership, Hub Empowerment, and Strong Industry to Revitalize the City," and strive to advance the pioneering demonstration of "Electrifying the Yangtze River," providing a replicable Yichang model for extending "Electrifying the Yangtze River" across the entire Yangtze River Basin.

The conference features multiple activity segments, including six thematic report sessions. These include a session on the development of inland green intelligent ships, which will explain relevant standards, policies, and development directions; and a session on power battery development and recycling, which will interpret technologies for resource utilization of new energy power battery materials, intelligent recycling and management of new energy batteries, and policies for the circular economy of new energy batteries.
