Hong Kong "Low-Altitude Economy Technology Gallery" Inaugurated to Promote Practical Application of Low-Altitude Economy
The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) held the opening ceremony of the "Low-Altitude Economy Technology Gallery" on the 30th. The gallery centrally showcases nearly 20 cutting-edge technological achievements in the low-altitude economy from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland, visually demonstrating the technical strength of both places in this field.
At the ceremony, Deputy Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Mr. Wong Wai-lun, stated that promoting the development of the low-altitude economy requires the joint participation of partners and collaboration with all sectors. In March this year, the SAR government announced the first batch of 38 "regulatory sandbox" pilot projects. Seventeen of these projects have already commenced testing, and it is expected that a total of 28 projects will be implemented for testing by the end of October. This reflects the enthusiastic response from all sectors and demonstrates the SAR government's rapid pace in advancing the low-altitude economy, a momentum that will be maintained in the future.
Mr. Sunny Tan, Chairman of the HKPC, stated that the Low-Altitude Economy Technology Gallery is not only a space to display innovative technology but also a testing ground for promoting institutional innovation. It is hoped that this platform will bring together the strengths of government, industry, academia, and research to jointly explore airspace management models and application scenarios in high-density cities, create a "low-altitude economy model" with Hong Kong characteristics, and further consolidate Hong Kong's status as an international innovation and technology hub.
Inside the "Low-Altitude Economy Technology Gallery," multiple cutting-edge technological achievements from Hong Kong and the mainland are displayed. Among the exhibiting companies, Keeta Drone, under Meituan, presented results achieved with the support of the "regulatory sandbox" – it has recently been approved to break through the single-sortie delivery restriction, allowing the simultaneous deployment of multiple drones for missions during daily operations.
Keeta Drone stated that this service upgrade not only provides citizens with more convenient and intelligent consumption experiences but will also further promote the development of Hong Kong's low-altitude economy. This breakthrough is attributed to the Hong Kong SAR Government's open policies towards the low-altitude economy and the support of the innovative regulatory sandbox. Since the launch of the sandbox plan in November 2024, Meituan's drones have passed rigorous safety tests and scenario verifications, gradually expanding low-altitude logistics service scenarios in Hong Kong.
