Digital Yuan International Operation Center Officially Launched

On the 25th, reporters learned from the People's Bank of China (PBOC) that the Digital Yuan International Operation Center has officially commenced operations in Shanghai, launching three major business platforms: the Digital Yuan Cross-border Digital Payment Platform, the Digital Yuan Blockchain Service Platform, and the Digital Asset Platform.

According to reports, the Digital Yuan Cross-border Digital Payment Platform explores using central bank digital currency to address pain points in traditional cross-border payments. The Digital Yuan Blockchain Service Platform provides standardized cross-chain transaction information relay and on-chain digital yuan payment services for various scenarios and industry-specific blockchains. The Digital Asset Platform offers standard, ready-to-use financial-grade digital asset services, supporting existing financial infrastructure in expanding their business onto the blockchain.

In June this year, PBOC Governor Pan Gongsheng announced at the 2025 Lujiazui Forum that an international operation center for the digital yuan would be established in Shanghai to advance the international operation of the digital yuan and the development of financial market business, serving digital financial innovation.

On the 24th, PBOC Deputy Governor Lu Lei stated at the promotion conference for the business platforms of the Digital Yuan International Operation Center that the three principles of "non-prejudice, compliance, and interoperability" proposed by the PBOC have become the fundamental criteria for the construction of cross-border infrastructure for central bank digital currencies. He mentioned that a cross-border financial infrastructure system for the digital yuan has been initially established. In the future, the PBOC will continue to support the Digital Yuan International Operation Center in pursuing steady and sustained progress, providing solid support for facilitating cross-border trade and investment financing.

Reporters learned that the Digital Yuan International Operation Center was established and is managed by the Digital Currency Institute of the People's Bank of China. It is responsible for constructing and operating the cross-border and blockchain infrastructure for the digital yuan, and for promoting cross-border connectivity with domestic and international financial infrastructure.
