Sichuan: Highway Service Areas Now Offer Tax Refunds for Departing Tourists
Recently, the Jiajiang Tianfu Service Area on the Chengdu-Leshan Expressway in Sichuan was officially designated as a tax refund point for departing tourists, becoming the first highway service area in Sichuan Province to offer such a service.
Previously, tax refund services were mainly concentrated in shopping malls, airports, and ports. This extension of tax refund points directly into the transportation network represents a new attempt by Sichuan to integrate "transportation + tourism + cross-border consumption."
International tourists at the Jiajiang Tianfu Service Area can enjoy a maximum tax refund rate of 11% with a minimum purchase of 200 yuan, allowing even small purchases to benefit from the policy. This initiative precisely addresses the issues of "itinerary burden" and "experience gaps" in cross-border consumption.
In the future, the Jiajiang Tianfu Service Area on the Chengdu-Leshan Expressway will further optimize the tax refund process by adding multilingual guidance, simplifying documentation procedures, and adopting open and internationally oriented operations. This aims to "attract tourists via expressways, boost income through specialty industries, and build a brand through cultural and tourism integration."
