Trump Makes U.S. History: Publicly Dismisses Federal Reserve Governor!
As mentioned by Cailian Press last week, the Trump administration is subtly conducting a comprehensive personnel "purge" of the Federal Reserve, with a level of ruthlessness and creativity in intervention that few Fed watchers could have imagined. This past Monday local time, as Trump officially announced the immediate dismissal of Biden-appointed Fed Governor Lisa Cook, his determination to take control of the Fed has become "crystal clear"...
In the released document, Trump wrote, "Pursuant to the powers vested in me by Article II of the United States Constitution and the amended Federal Reserve Act of 1913, I hereby terminate the appointment of Lisa Cook as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System."
Prior to Trump's decision, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Pult had earlier this month accused Cook of applying for mortgages on two properties in 2021—one in Michigan and another in Atlanta—and describing both as her primary residence in documents filed 14 days apart. Pult stated at the time that he would refer this information to the Department of Justice as a criminal matter.
"Given the deceptive behavior and potential criminal misconduct you (Cook) have exhibited in financial matters, the American people cannot, and I cannot, maintain confidence in your integrity," the document stated.
Trump had said last Friday that he would fire Cook if she did not resign. At the time, Trump also posted a picture of the seven Fed governors, with a large "X" marked over Cook's position.
Cook stated last week that she had learned from media reports that Pult was pursuing criminal charges against her over the "mortgage controversy." "I have no intention of being forced to resign over issues raised in tweets," she said, adding that she would take questions about her financial history seriously.
