Tien Poon Group Announces Further Business Transformation, Enters Commercial Drone Market to Capture Billion-Dollar Opportunities
Following its entry into the AI water-cooled server critical cleaning service market, Tien Poon United (6199-TW) announced today (18th) an upgraded business transformation plan. The company will collaborate with Taiwan’s elite drone application development teams to establish a group subsidiary with an initial capital of NT$100 million, targeting the high-end commercial drone market. The subsidiary is expected to be fully set up by the end of 2025.
Tien Poon stated that the group will actively engage in the R&D, testing, and manufacturing of high-end commercial drones under the guidance of domestic and international experts. The focus will be on innovative composite materials, key components, and vertical application solutions. The first step will be to deepen the application of commercial drones in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and animal husbandry, followed by aggressively capturing the global billion-dollar drone market.
The company emphasized that in response to the rapidly evolving market, it has steadily adopted a "diversified industry layout and multi-faceted operations" strategy to expand its business portfolio and future growth momentum. After transforming from a traditional life services industry into a modern enterprise integrating AI technology and value inheritance, and subsequently entering the AI clean technology sector, Tien Poon continues to drive cross-industry transformation by investing in high-tech and high-growth industries to create new revenue streams. The move into the drone industry marks another critical step in deepening its technological business layout after "AI clean technology," demonstrating its commitment and flexibility in diversified operations.
According to the latest research reports, the global drone market is projected to reach $57.8 billion by 2030, with the commercial drone market growing at a CAGR of 7.9%. The largest application sector comes from the energy industry, while freight, delivery, internal logistics, and warehousing show the highest CAGR. Another report by Markets And Markets indicates that military drone procurement will increase from 40,300 units in 2025 to 58,800 units by 2030, with the overall market size growing from $15.8 billion in 2025 to $22.81 billion by 2030 at a CAGR of 7.6%, highlighting the rapid expansion of the global drone market.
Taiwan’s drone industry is also growing swiftly. Research by the U.S.-Taiwan DSET (Democracy, Society, and Emerging Technology) on drone democratic services indicates that Taiwan’s drone production target will rise from 8,000–10,000 units annually between April 2024 and April 2025 to 180,000 units by 2028. The total market size is expected to grow from approximately NT$5 billion (~$155 million) in 2024 to NT$30 billion (~$938 million) by 2028. Taiwan boasts a complete ecosystem and supply chain for key components such as composite airframes, autonomous control systems, and flight computers. The government has also prioritized the drone industry as a national development focus, actively investing in R&D and forming industry alliances.
